Dubai Bob

Not sure where to start, so many memories which started back in 2002 when I took up the GM role for Hertz in Kuwait.

My first overseas role knew nobody, sat at my desk thinking, what have I done, then the phone rings !! It's Bob, welcoming me to Hertz, after 30 mins on the call knew we would get along.Lots of advice, on how to operate and manage yourself on the region.

I went to Kuwait just as the 2nd invasion was about to take place into Iraq, Had a lovely place at the Hilton, but when missiles started to land on the Beach, decided to take Bob's offer up and head down to Dubai.

Life was so different there, so quickly fell in love with the place, and Bob's wealth of knowledge and personality, and general support were so valuable to me.

Headed back up to Kuwait, then a few months later I got the call ..... Bob, I have a senior role for you interested? took me all of 10 seconds to say YES !! so headed down to Dubai to start the adventure, whilst I did have a great role, I think my title was Corporate and Social Secretary !!

Then I got to know the real Bob, everybody got a chance, all equals, and he enthused a passion and spirit around the team that I have never seen before, which in turn resulted in the business exploding !! with the business going so well we did have time to play, lets's just say Bob never left anything on the table, any event of notice in Dubai, Bob would be there... full of life and without doubt Dubai's best networker.

As I said so many memories, RIP my friend, you made an unbelievable impact on my life and I thank you for that.

Cheers Andy
