Thank you for bringing me to the UAE!

Created by Roderick one year ago

It was in 2017 when I was approached by a head hunter on an opportunity in Abu Dhabi. It was Bob who I had several chats with before I was successful in my role in Abu Dhabi. Bob and I build an immediate connection. A wily car leasing/ rental doyen in the Middle East and me, fresh from the Australian shores into UAE, Abu Dhabi life. It has been a challenging time when we both got going at Massar and I learned so much from Bob. Not only professionally but also culturally in an UAE environment that is not always easy. He was not afraid to make decisions, build resilience and challenge people and that is what I admired. Bob became a true friend, confidant and mentor for when I was doubting my ability or when things were happening that did not make sense.

He was instrumental in being there as a voice of reason when things all appeared to be too hard, not making sense or just done the MENA way! Bob you loved life and your love for Fei Chin and your kids were on display at all times. You and Fei Chin are soul mates and I enjoyed our dinners/ lunches in Falcon Tower when we had chat.

I still (think I) remember the time that Dumitru and I had such a big night with both your and Fei Chin's whiskey and wine and hospitality, we rolled out of your apartment! Luckily you told me... when you think of drinking, do not even think of driving and up to now I heed that great advice

Thanks for sharing and showing me your collection of watches, loud shirts and groovy shoes. You certainly were not one to take heed of any detractors and always did it your way.

Our mutual love for Spurs was there and we would chat about how after a painful loss, we would make it... next time. Bob, we are very close to getting that Champions league spot and I know you will be watching intently for our beloved Spurs to make it.

I am fortunate to have known you for those 4 years and you have been instrumental in helping me transition and be used to UAE and ME life. I miss our chats when I needed to speak to a trusting hear but I appreciate our friendship, trust and respect in a very tough world in UAE. Miss you Bob, RIP !
